Uchida extends stay at Schalke till 2015

Berlin, Aug 17 (IANS) Japanese international Atsuto Uchida has extended his contract with Schalke 04 until 2015, the Bundesliga club announced on its official website Thursday.

“Atsuto Uchida is bubbling with enthusiasm. We are delighted about the contract extension because he is a very reliable player who identifies himself fully with the club,” Xinhua quoted Schalke manager Horst Heldt as saying.

The 24-year-old defender was transferred from Kashima Antlers to Schalke in 2010. Uchida is also part of the Japanese national team since 2008, where he has scored one goal in 50 caps.

The German Bundesliga season kicks-off from Aug 25. However, Schalke’s starts the season this Sunday against third division side Saarbrucken in the German Cup.
