The Bayern Munich captain has an incredible average passing accuracy of 92%, a stat which will put the best central midfielders to shame. He will have an important role to play in containing Cristiano Ronaldo and the marauding runs from left-back of Marcelo.

Sergio Ramos

Ramos will be a goal threat from set pieces, having already scored ten in the season

Ramos has had another superb season for Real Madrid at the heart of the Los Blancos’ defence as well as scoring important goals late in the game. The central defender has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season, which is one goal more than Gareth Bale, and highlights the huge threat the Spaniard will be while attacking set-pieces against Bayern Munich.

Boateng will have to shepherd the defence in the absence of his defensive partner, Mats Hummels

Jerome Boateng, over the years, has cemented his reputation as one of the best centre-backs in the world, and he, like his fellow Bayern Munich defenders, has had a solid season in defence.

Boateng has played four games in the Champions League this season and has mostly partnered fellow German defender, Mats Hummels, but that won’t be the case against Los Blancos as the latter has been ruled out of the game because of an injury.

The onus will be on Boateng to keep the free-flowing football of Madrid at bay.

Marcelo

Marcelo
Marcelo’s task for the night will be to keep Arjen Robben quiet

The 28-year-old left-back’s game hasn’t changed much since he joined Madrid, and he is still the adventurous, attacking full-back that he was in his youth. The Brazilian is one of the senior-most players in the Los Blancos squad and will have an important role in keeping quiet Arjen Robben on the left flank.

Marcelo has created six chances in his six games in the Champions League campaign and has also been defensively solid, making an average of three tackles per game.
