Winners: Spanish giants - Real Madrid and FC Barcelona
Both Spanish giants would have been delighted to avoid Liverpool this early in the competition. Real Madrid will be looking to win an unreal fifth title in six years, while Barcelona will be hoping to claim the title from their arch-rivals for the first time since 2015.
Defending champions Real Madrid haven't found it easy this season. No Ronaldo, no Zidane, and the sacking of his replacement - Julen Lopetegui, Madrid have found life difficult so far. But this side still managed to come alive in the Champions League, and would have been pleased to get a draw against Ajax.
Ajax have been impressive so far this season, and managed to hold Bayern Munich in both games in the group stages. But the experience and class of Los Blancos may be too much to handle for the young Dutch side.
Barcelona have had a rocky start to the season, but have hit top gear in recent weeks. Lyon may be a tricky side, as they have denied Manchester City a victory twice, thanks to some tactical planning, but Barcelona who have Lionel Messi in their ranks, are a completely different ball game.
Barcelona would have been relatively happy with their draw, and will be confident of making it to the quarter-finals.
