Bundesliga defending champions, Bayern Munich are set to host Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid at the Allianz Arena, later tonight. The Spanish side had, previously, registered a 1-0 victory over their German counterparts in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final fixture at the Vincente Calderon Stadium, a few nights back.
The encounter is going to be a crucial one for both the football clubs, especially Bayern Munich as the German side would want to give their departing manager, Pep Guardiola one last hurrah before he moves to Manchester City next season.
The Bavaria-based football club is almost on the verge of securing its 26th Bundesliga title as it currently sits pretty on the top of the Bundesliga, five points clear of the second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, will certainly be high on confidence with a one-goal cushion before the kick-off. Diego Simeone's side has had a decent outing in the La Liga as well, as it currently occupies the second spot on the league table with the same number points as that of the league leaders, Barcelona.
Both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are tied on 85 points each after 36 league matches, with the Catalan side slightly edging past the Madrid-based club thanks to a goal difference of 75 compared to Atletico's 44.

Coming back to the UEFA Champions League scenario, Diego Simeone's side, a few nights back, had secured a 1-0 win over Bayern Munich thanks to a superb solo effort by the 21-year-old Spaniard, Saul Niguez.
The Spanish youngster had shown some nifty footwork as he, effortlessly, went past the Bayern defence in order to put the ball past Manuel Neuer who- without a shadow of doubt- is one of the best goalkeepers in modern day football.
The German side had a forgettable outing against Atletico Madrid back on 28 April and, therefore, will be looking forward to turn the tables later tonight. The Bayern full-back, Juan Bernat, in particular, had an extremely terrible day on the field.
The 23-year-old Spain international looked quite shaky right from the start and wasn't quite able to create an impact for the Bavaria-based football club.

Pep Guardiola also has to worry a bit about how Robert Lewandowski was cut-off from his team-mates for the most parts of the encounter. Although, the 27-year-old striker struck a couple of shots on target but the fact that he was almost isolated from the rest of his colleagues imply that Simeone had done his homework quite well before the first leg of the second 2016 UEFA Champions League semi-final.
