Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid
It was another night of European heartbreak for Atletico Madrid

Jan Oblak - 8.5/10

He kept Atleti in the game with his stupendous saves. If not for him, the Roji Blancos wouldn't have had a chance in this finals.

Juanfran Torres - 7/10

The Spaniard was unstoppable in the second half and it was his cross which led to the equaliser. It was a such a shame that he missed the penalty which mattered the most despite having a heroic game.

Diego Godin - 7/10

Simeone's defensive bedrock wasn't at his grittiest best but did well enough to shut out an expansive Real Madrid attack. He could've been a bit better in set-pieces where he was bullied by Real Madrid's players.

Filipe Luis - 7/10

Did well to hold his own against the pace battery of Real Madrid. Unfortunately his game was cut short due to an injury.

Stefan Savic - 7.5/10

He complimented extremely well to Godin in the heart of defense. He threw his body on the line numerous times to keep his side in the game.

Saul Niguez - 5/10

The star of the semifinals flattered to deceive in the finals. He did salvage himself a bit in the second half, but it was a poor show from the 21 year old.

Gabi - 8/10

The Rojiblanco's captain did well to shut out Real's creative midfielders. He was trying his best to marshal his troops from the front but he fell short. He was Atletico's second blade in this battle of San Siro. It was disappointing for him to be on the losing side after having a splendid game.

Koke - 7/10

Had an awful first half but soon found his mojo in the second. He was key in helping Atletico win the midfield battle in the second half. He could've made a difference in penalty shootouts had he been fit.

Antoine Griezmann - 5/10

Atleti's star of the season failed to show up when it mattered the most. He could've grabbed the headlines with his penalty in the second half but his nerves ultimately got better of him. It was an awful game for a player of his calibre despite scoring a redeeming opening penalty in the shootout.

Augusto Fernandez - 4/10

Atletico's midfield dynamo simply went kaput when it mattered the most. He was rightly hauled off at the interval to facilitate the change of shape and fortunes of the team.

Fernando Torres - 5/10

He was virtually invisible for almost 60 minutes of the game. His only noteworthy contribution in the game was earning the penalty.

Substitutes

Yannick Carrasco - 8.5/10

He changed the tide for Atletico in second half which ultimately resulted in his equaliser. His marauding runs shredded Danilo to pieces, which was instrumental in Atletico's goal.

Lucas Hernandez - 6/10

The sub did his job to keep Atleti in the game as he blocked quite a few shots deep into the extra-time.

Thomas Partey - NA

Barely played any minutes to have an impact on the game.
