Last Modified Jun 13, 2024 07:32 GMT

The Euro 2024 will take place between June 14 to July 14, 2024 across ten cities in Germany. The tournament consists of 24 participating countries and the format follows a similar path via the Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.

The 24 teams are divided into 6 groups from Group A to Group F, each comprising four teams. Teams in each group face the other teams once with six games per group in the preliminary stage. The top two teams from each group qualify for the Round of 16, alongside four third-best ranked teams, making it a total 18 teams to play the next round.

In the event that two teams in the group stage end up with the same number of points, a systematic tie-breaking system with factors such as the goal difference, goal scored, head-to-head results and fair play points are considered.

The Round of 16 comprises 8 matches with the four winning teams advancing to the quarter-final stage. The quarter final round includes four matches with the two winning teams moving forward to the semi-finals. The final two winning teams from the two fixtures in the semi-finals play the final.
