UEFA have released a team of the Euro 2016 tournament based on a technical report submitted by a committee of coaches and former managers. This report is different from the original team of the tournament and is based on expert assessment of the players’ performance.
The committee consisted of Sunderland coach David Moyes, German coach Thomas Schaaf, former France international Alain Giresse amongst others headed by none other than Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
The team have composed a detailed compilation of analysis on the various players out of which the best XI were picked in the final draft of the report. The team consists of players only from the top four of the tournament.
From the Wales team, two players have been picked as Gareth Bale missed out. Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey and Stoke City’s Jo e Allen were the two players who were picked in the XI. Based on the team’s analysis these were the reasons for their inclusion.
Joe Allen was applauded for the role of "prototype midfielder" and was credited with being "able to control tempo and develop attacking moves."
Aaron Ramsey on the other hand, was praised for "fantastic reading of game, coverage of ground and timing of runs". The box-to-box engine of the team never stopped running and it was his hard work that helped the team reach the semi-finals of the competition.
Germany had three from their camp who made it to the XI. Bayern Munich’s young rising star Joshua Kimmich was included for his fine performance in defence. He has come a long way in just under a year.
His teammate Jerome Boateng also made it. It’s no surprise considering he’s currently one of the world’s best defenders. The third German to make it was Toni Kroos who was highly consistent throughout the tournament.
Portuguese keeper Rui Patricio was chosen for the reason that he made “big saves in crucial games.” Of Course Cristiano Ronaldo was also included for the timeliness and importance of the goals he scored.
The future of Portuguese football, Renato Sanches was not included in the final XI despite his brilliant performances. Finally from hosts France who lost that heartbreaking final in Extra Time had two of their big names included.
Antoine Griezmann arguably the player of the tournament got the Technical’s team’s vote as well as the best in Euro 2016. Magician Dimitri Payet was the other Frenchman to make the cut.
