Fahad Musana, a Ugandan footballer who plays for Simba FC, died of a heart-failure owning to Frank Lampard’s goal against his former club Chelsea on Sunday.
Musana, who was an avid supporter of Chelsea, had suffered the attack, while watching the match in the Bombo Town Hall.
The 24-year-old is said to have fainted following Lampard’s goal, and was offered CPR but to no avail as he was long dead before he was taken to the closest Bombo Military hospital, confirmed Ugandan sports website Kawowo.
“He even trained with us in the morning of the fateful incident and completed the session well,” Simba FC coach Fred Kajoba told Kawawo.
A team-mate Gerald Bagoole added: “We trained with him on Sunday morning, had lunch together. When the Premier League matches commenced, he went to watch from near his residence. He has been a passionate fan of Chelsea and would do anything for the club, apart from gambling.”
It is also being speculated that the reason behind Musana’s death might have been due to a slight knock to the head that he had suffered during Simba FC’s 1-0 win this weekend.
