Juan Mata remains the subject of rumour and speculation once again as he was overlooked for our biggest game of the season!
Many of us sat watching the game yesterday and saw that Eden Hazard wasn’t exactly having his best game. As the game progressed, I wondered if Jose Mourinho would introduce Juan Mata as a direct replacement for Hazard but Willian was brought on instead.
According to this report in The Telegraph, Big spending Paris St Germain are looking to make a second approach for the Spaniard in January after making an approach late in the summer transfer window.
Yesterday was the biggest game of our season and Juan Mata played no part and for the player himself, that has to be disappointing.
Having been our player of the year for the last two seasons and playing an influential role in our European and Cup successes, Mata as we all know has to play second fiddle.
Arsenal away in the League Cup tomorrow night is the best Mata can hope for at the minute and with the games going by, Mata needs regular playing time to ensure he is on the flight to Rio next summer with the Spanish National team!
For the moment I see nothing happening but and we have to face up to the current situation. If the situation remains the same and PSG come calling in January, Mata and Jose Mourinho will have to make important decisions.
Six months ago as Chelsea won the Europa League in Amsterdam and Mata was awarded the Player of the Year trophy for a second season, none of us thought he would be in this position.
I just hope that somehow, he can force himself in Jose Mourinho’s plans and finally get the regular football he needs at Chelsea.
If not, then we should prepare ourselves for him leaving!
