Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has kept his promise by donating a 25-seater bus, and documents for land allotted for the YUWA football players.

YUWA is an organisation that serve with the motto ‘to empower women’ in rural areas of India. It’s base is set at Ormanjhi in Jharkhand.

The organization was founded by American Franz Gastler five years ago for tribal girls aged between 12 and 14.

Ramesh had met the girls on August 9, where the girls had requested him for a permanent land for their practice purposes. A private ground was then tilled. A bus was arranged as well to facilitate their daily commute from their respective villages for their evening training.

“My department has already mandated at least one playground in every tribal village. The achievements of these girls will inspire several tribal sportsmen and women to play for the nation,” said the minister.
