Former Manchester United player, Eric Cantona, will be starring in a new dark comedy called “Les Rencontres d’après minuit.”
Cantona who was more than famous for his on-field performances for the Red Devils turned into a film/stage actor, having the most success for his part in the 1998 film Elizabeth, starring Cate Blanchett, and in Ken Loach’s 2009 film Looking for Eric.
Les Rencontres d’après minuit (The Meetings After Midnight) releases in November and has Cantona playing the character of L’Etalon (The Stallion), who is invited by a young couple and their transvestite maid for an soiree. Cantona has said that the film, which is directed by Yann Gonzalez, is “not foolishly voyeuristic but elegant and unique”.
Eric has been cast as a “Bull”, quite unsurprisingly, and plays the role of a dominant alpha males who usually takes control of such activities.
This is not a cheesy flick though – evoking Pedro Almodovar and Jean-Luc Godard, it is moody, witty and at times borders on the pastiche.
