The management of Kolkata-based United SC in a late afternoon meeting in the City of Joy decided to form a senior football team for the coming Calcutta Premier Division 'B' League. In a statement, United SC General Secretary Alokesh Kundu said, "Though we don't support the two-tier system of Kolkata Premier League and our forced relegation to the second tier, still in the best interest of Bengal football, our members have agreed to form the strongest team as far as possible. From next we will start building the team."
Last season United SC had not played in the Calcutta Premier Division after exclusion from the I-League at the end of the season before and therefore with the split of the 22 team Calcutta Premier Division, United SC was seeded into the 'B' League of the Calcutta Premier Division.
