As Park Ji-Sung Goes to QPR after a superb spell with United, it’s time that United find a holding mid-fielder; not that I’m saying Park is really important, but it makes the situation more serious.
Basically, a holding mid-fielder’s main objective is to keep the ball in possession, make way for his attacking mates, and give out some superb through passes. Box to box performance is the main aspect of a holding mid-fieder. We go on to the situation with United.
Darren Fletcher looks to bounce back after his layoff, but the Gaffer is still not risking him for a go. Michael Carrick will be doing the job, but seriously, in the defensive way, he should be good enough for United’s big games. Paul Scholes will also be retiring the next season. It’s this department which needs more concern. Last season, the defenders like Rafael and Phil Jones were called upon by the Gaffer to do the central defensive duties a few times. Phil stood strong whenever he played in the position, and also looked really good in box to box plays. But that leaves the right-back position a bit vulnerable, but not much. But surely, if the Gaffer does groom him in that position, he’s the one to watch out for!
As the transfers go by, Moutinho, Cabaye, Tiote and Fellaini stand out in United’s wishlist. I have to tell you in all of these players, Tiote has to be the one because of his tremendous performance. A really amazing CDM. Would love to have the guy in United, but again, he’s taken a 6-year deal with Newcastle. As for Cabaye, another genius in the work. A great vision and great technical skills whom i’ll compare to likes of Scholes. Never mind he’s in a 5-year deal, but he’s worth going for. Fellaini has a great understanding playing box to box. Last season, he won the second highest perfect tackles in the league, and took possession of the ball 190 times; undoubtedly one of the great aspects in a holding Midfielder. He has also taken a 5-year deal, unfortunately, but he’s surely on the hunt-list, with his teammate Leighton Baines.
All this has been about the Premier League players, but one stood out in the latest Euro. Joao Moutinho stood out in the semi – final match, and I would say the starting 45 mins were dominated by Portugal thanks to him and Coentrao. His vision, perfect, passing, on the dot, tackling, good. Put him in Man Utd, and he’ll certainly make space for Kagawa to make forward runs make elegant plays. A good fit for United, this guy, but Sporing don’t want to lose him.
Surely one can say that no one can surpass the brilliance of Paul Scholes, but it is necessary to have a Keano in the team. These Players that i’ve put mentioned are only by my interest in these players. Hope you enjoyed and got to know more. Feel free to share your thoughts.
