USA and Bolivia square off in the 204 Copa America on Sunday

USA and Bolivia get underway in the 2024 Copa America when they lock horns at the AT&T Stadium on Sunday. As the host nation, the USMNT will be under pressure to go all the way this year, while La Verde will be looking to replicate their 1996 title-winning run.

USA will take to the pitch having never finished higher than fourth in Copa America history and head coach Gregg Berhalter has called up a talented group as they look to secure their first title.

Antonee Robinson, Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie, Giovanni Reyna and skipper Christian Pulisic headline the 26-man squad with veterans like Tim Ream and Sean Johnson offering a wealth of experience.

The USMNT head into Sunday’s group opener off the back of an impressive 1-1 draw against Brazil and Berhalter will hope that result can serve as a springboard for a fine outing in the Copa America.

The goal for Bolivia will be to avoid another early exit as they have crashed out in the group-stage phase of each of their last three Copa America editions.

The 1996 champions are on a run of 10 consecutive defeats in the continental showpiece, scoring six goals and conceding 26 since their quarter-final finish in 2015.

Bolivia have named an experienced squad for the competition, with veteran striker Rodrigo Ramallo and the Bolivar trio of Carlos Lampe, José Sagredo and Ramiro Vaca leading the team.

USA vs Bolivia Numbers you need to know before their Copa America 2024 encounter

USA have won just two of their last six matches across all competitions while losing three and claiming one draw since November 2023. The USMNT have won three of their last four competitive matches, including a 2-0 victory over Mexico in the Nations League final in March.

Bolivia have lost all but one of their last 10 competitive games since the start of 2022, with last November’s 2-0 win over Peru in a World Cup qualifier being the exception.

La Verde have crashed out in the group stages in eight of their last nine Copa America outings, including each of the last three editions since 2016.

USA are making their first Copa America appearance since 2016 when they finished fourth as the host nation — their joint-best position in the tournament’s history (also in 1995).

With his equaliser against Brazil, Pulisic now has 29 goals in 68 senior caps for USA since his debut in March 2016 and the AC Milan man will be one to keep an eye on.
