The USA and Uruguay face off at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Monday (July 1) in match 21 of the 2024 Copa America group stage. The hosts kicked off their continental campaign with a 2-0 win over Bolivia, with Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun getting on the scoresheet in the first half to secure a comfortable victory.
The USMNT, though, came undone against 10-man Panama in their second game. They took the lead midway through the first half via a stunning goal from Folarin Balogun despite going down to 10 men minutes earlier before Panama snatched all three points despite finishing with 10 men themselves.
Gregg Berhalter's men will, however, advance to the quarterfinals with a win, while a draw could also suffice.
Uruguay, meanwhile, have been outstanding at the Copa America, starting things off with a 3-1 victory over Panama. They found themselves three goals up before their opponents netted a late consolation goal.
They then thrashed Bolivia 5-0 in their next game, with five players getting on the scoresheet, including in-form striker Darwin Nunez to clinch maximum points and all but guarantee their passage to the knockouts.
USA vs Uruguay Head-to-Head
There have been seven meetings between the two teams. The United States have won two of those games, while Uruguay have won once.
The two sides last faced off in a friendly at the Children's Mercy Park in June 2022, which ended goalless.
