Louis Van Gaal has admitted that Colombian striker Falcao is a problem to the balance of the team. He admits that he is unable to decide on where to fit in the on loan striker.
“The problem for Falcao is that the balance of the team is more important than the individual,” the Dutch tactician said. “It is not his fault and not because of his performances.”
“With the other system I could play with two strikers but then the balance wasn’t good and we had difficulties in the last half-hour of games. Since then we have scored fewer goals but conceded less and we have played the better teams [Chelsea and Manchester City] on an equal level, more or less.”
So it all boils down to the transfer policy during the summer which saw United splurging on quality attacking players but didn’t reinforce their defence. Falcao although on loan is on huge wages which should have been put to better use for the team.
As a squad, United lack balance and are wafer thin in defence and defensive midfield where as there is too much of competition for the attacking spots. This puts Van Gaal in a fix as he has to leave out players like Juan Mata and Radamel Falcao out of the team every week.
There is hope for Falcao as Van Persie is out of form and Wayne Rooney is playing a midfield role, and he has a huge role to play in United’s attempt to get back to Champions League football. Champions league is the number 1 priority for United after a disastrous season which saw them finish seventh and they had to sack their manager David Moyes.
In other news,Manchester United are looking to buy Ron Vlaar in January to bolster their defence. Manchester United reportedly will bid in the region of £6m in the hope of persuading the struggling Villains to sell.
