Venezuela will lock horns with Mexico at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Thursday in the second game of the 2024 Copa America. The two sides kicked off their group stage campaigns on winning notes and will be looking to build on that when they play this week.
La Vinotinto headed into the Copa America in shaky form and found themselves a goal down at the break against Ecuador in their group opener on Saturday despite holding the numerical advantage.
Second-half goals from substitutes Jhonder Cadiz and Eduard Bello, however, saw Venezuela turn the game on its head and help secure an important three points ahead of their next group outing on Wednesday.
Mexico, meanwhile, were looking to mark their return to the Copa America for the first time since 2016 with a comfortable victory against Jamaica but were dealt a blow after team captain Edson Alvarez was forced off with an injury less than 30 minutes into the game.
El Tri, however, rallied themselves despite the absence of their leader and went on to secure victory thanks to a brilliant second-half strike from Monterrey man Gerardo Arteaga.
