Verona sign Bosko Jankovic from Genoa

Genoa CFC v AS Roma - Serie A

Newly promoted Hellas Verona have signed up experienced Serbian midfielder Bosko Jankovic from Genoa for an undisclosed fee. The 29-year old Serb is the latest addition in the Gialloblu squad after the summer arrivals of former Italy international Luca Toni and Massimo Donati.

Jankovic has represented Serbia 31 times netting 5 goals in an international career spanning for more than five years. Furthermore, having a great experience playing for Genoa in the top flight and captaining the side last season would give a stable look in the Verona strike force. The tall Serbian was at the heart of a Genoa side that survived a relegation scrap last season that went right down the wire and this experience would suit the side from Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi for the upcoming season.

A statement on Verona’s official website read: “Hellas Verona have acquired the registration of Bosko Jankovic from Genoa CFC.

“The player has joined his team-mates at the summer training camp in Val Ridanna. After meeting (coach) Andrea Mandorlini and all the staff, he joined in with a training session for about an hour.”

Known for his versatility, Bosko Jankovic is an attacking minded midfielder who can easily slot into a striker’s role and his accurate set pieces and long range shots could prove to be invaluable for Verona in the long term. The former Red Star Belgrade, Mallorca and Palermo player could form a lasting partnership with fellow summer signing Luca Toni upfront for Verona and come the 2013-14 season many teams will be surprised if the Gialloblu can utilize them properly.

The details of the transfer deal or the length of the contract have not been revealed by either club.
