Spain national team manager Vicente Del Bosque has insisted that Iker Casillas will remain the No.1 goalkeeper for Spain even though he was dropped by Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.
In an interview with Football Espana Del Bosque said: “We are happy with the three goalkeepers, even if they go 10 games not playing.
“Real Madrid’s next match is August 26 in Granada and we out together the list for the Finland game on August 30. I do not think we will make any changes in goal.
“We have to evaluate the situation at each moment. Iker is unique and a special man in the world of Spanish football.
“It is a very personal situation, between the club and the player.”
Carlo Ancelotti had benched Casillas against Real Betis on Monday, which ignited the debate regarding the goalkeeper’s future.
Spain are scheduled to face Finland in a World Cup qualifier on September 6, before meeting Chile in a friendly a few days later in Switzerland.
