Victor Moses: Winning with Nigeria was a dream come true

Nigeria v Burkina Faso - 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Final

After leading Nigeria to an inspiring win in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, Victor Moses may be all set to take Chelsea and lead them to victory in the forthcoming tournaments.

The Nigerian Government rewarded Moses £250,000 and a free plot of land in his home country, from which he had fled, for his efforts. On winning the prestigious African tournament, he said “Winning with Nigeria was a dream come true – one of the best days of my life,” he said. “It has been a long journey and I just want to keep strong and work hard for myself.”

In 2002, Moses was rescued by his uncle, when his parents were slaughtered in their home town in northern Nigeria, which was being tormented by terrorists. His uncle brought him to England and raised him.

Moses first moved England at the age of 11, and is now returning to the place he was brought up, where he will be celebrating a dramatic and emotional 1-0 win over Burkina Faso. This event will be marked in his life as a turnaround is his fortune.

Rafael Benitez was very happy with the return of his two players and expects them to be full of confidence after their successful campaign in Africa for their country. When asked about what each player brings to the field, he said “Both of them progressed as individuals through the tournament. Obi has more experience and you could expect good performances from him, but Victor was coming through and I could see he has been growing and improving. It is a great achievement for Victor.
