10 years after the ill-fated Munich disaster that killed eight Manchester United players, Sir Matt Busby’s team became the first English side to win the European cup. The historic Wembley stadium played host to the cup final between Benfica and Man Utd. The Portuguese side had the fearsome forward Eusebio and Man Utd had the ‘holy trinity’ of Sir Bobby Charlton, Denis Law, and George Best.
The game went into extra time after both the teams scored a goal each. However, United came on top in the extra time scoring three goals to take home the title.
