Premier League outfit Manchester City faced an uphill task in their second leg, round of 16 UEFA Champions League visit to the Camp Nou, having to turn over a deficit of 2 goals.
All hopes of a miracle vanished when Lionel Messi scored midway into the second half to increase their aggregate lead to 3-0. Things got worse for the visitors as right back Pablo Zabaleta got the marching orders after he was shown a second yellow for remonstrating with the referee. Although Vincent Kompany produced an unlikely equaliser from late a corner, they failed to hold on as Daniel Alves scored at the death to beat the Citizens in both legs to progress to the quarter finals.
