Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has shown that he is not just good at stopping goals, he can score them pretty well too. And that too from a free-kick! Move over Wayne Rooney, let De Gea take the free-kicks going forward.
The Spaniard, who is reportedly on his way out of Old Trafford and moving to Real Madrid in the summer, just gave his manager Louis van Gaal a little more reason to keep him at the club. He was part of a free-kick challenge video that involved his United teammates Marcos Rojo, Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao, where De Gea’s sublime set-piece gave the Red Devils’ representatives the win.
The former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper stepped up confidently and curled the ball over the wall and right into the far corner, leaving the goalkeeper stranded. The video also involves a crossbar challenge, which was won for the United players by Angel Di Maria, whose Rabona attempt landed plush on the woodwork.
