It was clearly Nicklas Bendtner’s night as he guided Denmark to a spectacular 3-2 win over the United States despite trailing on two occasions as he grabbed his first international hat-trick in the international friendly at Aarhus, Denmark on Wednesday.
The visitors were leading 1-2 with goals from Jozy Altidore and Aron Johannsson, but the former Arsenal striker scored twice in the final 10 minutes of the match to steal the victory away from the United States.
"Of course, it was very special for me to score hat-trick for the national team, and it is something I will never forget,” said Bendter following the match. "I am where I should be. It is clear that when a man will score 13 goals in six games like Bas Dost, that he expects to play the next games.”
"It was nice to score against Inter in the Europa League and play against Mainz in the Bundesliga on Sunday. This indicates that things are going in the right direction for me at the club," he added.
