It was Karim Benzema’s show to run as Real Madrid cruised to a comfortable 4-1 win victory over Real Sociedad while playing at home against the David Moyes-led side.
Real Madrid were without their main man, Cristiano Ronaldo who is unavailable due to suspension after the Portuguese was involved in a violent incident during the Blancos’ 1-2 win over Cordoba last week.
It was a dodgy start for Carlo Ancelotti’s men after they conceded an early goal by letting defender Aritz Elustondo score his debut goal for Real Sociedad 36 seconds into the match. However, a quick equalising header from Colombian James Rodriguez brought Real Madrid right back into the match.
This followed by a goal from Sergio Ramos right before the half-time, and then another from Frenchman Karim Benzema. But, it was his 76th-minute goal that was the pick of the lot as he scored an exquisite goal with great venom and power.
A short pass from Isco saw Benzema release a beautiful, curling shot that was too much to handle for Sociedad keeper Geronimo Rulli as he watched the ball go past him into the top right corner of the net.
"Benzema played a fantastic match," said manager Ancelotti post the match. "He has a fantastic shot and his goal was real quality. But we have to value everything he does for our play and to help the team.
