Marseille 1 – 2 Borussia Dortmund

The German giants edged past Marseille, as Groskreutz’s tame effort crossed the line in the 87th minute to send them top of their table. Marseille on the other hand, complete a disastrous campaign, losing 6 out 6, finishing bottom of the pile.

Napoli 2 – 0 Arsenal

The Italian side, Napoli were dumped out of the Champions League despite winning their game against Arsenal. The hosts peppered Wojciech Szczesny‘s goal, until Gonzalo Higuain gave them the lead with a clinical finish on the half turn in the 72nd minute. The second goal came too little too late, as Napoli finished third only on goal difference. Arsenal qualified second with Dortmund topping their group.

Barcelona 6 – 1 Celtic

Neymar was the star of the show, as he completed a stunning hattrick in a 6 goal rout at the Camp Nou. Celtic could not match the host’s tiki-taka style of football, and were easily second best on the day. Barcelona finish top of group H, while Celtic crash out of the Champions League.

Chelsea 1 – 0 Steaua Bucharest

Chelsea scored the only goal of the game to give them a narrow win at home against Steaua Bucharest. Demba Ba scored a scrappy goal in the 10th minute, to give the hosts the lead. However, the Premier League club had several chances which they failed to convert. Chelsea top group E while Steaua Bucharest’s dream comes to an end, finishing last.

AC Milan 0 – 0 Ajax

Milan limped into the last 16 of the Champions League after holding on against Ajax at the San Siro. The hosts went down to 10 men early into the first half after Ricardo Montolivo received a straight red for his tackle on Christian Poulson. The Dutch club could not take advantage of the extra man, and failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, finishing third in their group.
