A massive brawl broke out between the fans of the Guadalajara Chivas and police officers during their the Chivas Atlas aftrer fans started lighting flares and throwing objects from their section in the upper deck of the stadium. In an attempt to neutralize the situation, police officers tried fight the fans down.
The fight between the two groups carried on for almost 15 minutes leaving 40 people injured and 17 arrested after the local derby ended in a 1-1 draw.
Eight police officers were said to be injured with two of them having serious bodily injuries.
