Stuttgart continued their revival under new manager Thomas Schneider after previous boss Bruno Labbadia was sacked following Stuttgart’s elimination from the Europa League play-off stage and the team losing their first three Bundesliga matches.
They now have six points from five matches as they go up to 8th place in the table following two successive victories under the new coach.
Christian Gentner scored the only goal of the game with a header from a corner in the 49th minute.
Hertha Berlin, meanwhile, suffered their second successive defeat and sit 6th in the table on seven points, five behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund.
