The match between Cordoba and Eibar last night in the La Liga saw the fastest goal of the 2014-15 La Liga season being scored by Cordoba’s Romanian striker Florin Andone. The match eventually finished 1-1 as Eibar were able to come back after conceding that goal right from kick-off.
As the referee blew for kick off, the Basque side Eibar began the match by passing the ball back into their half, but some great urgency shown by the Cordoba players ensured that the away side were under pressure immediately. Fede Cartabria blocked a clearance from the visitors' defence, and the ball was headed by Florin to Cartabria, who then sent it back Florin’s way.
The striker then showed great strength and presence of mind to finish off the sequence and give his team the lead. The most interesting aspect of this goal was that it was scored within nine seconds of kick-off, making it the fastest goal scored in the 2014-15 La Liga season.
According to statistics, the goal was also the fourth fastest in the history of the La Liga. The top position in that list is occupied by Joseba Llorente, whose goal for Valladolid is the quickest ever recorded in the Spanish League, coming in with 7.3 seconds on the clock.
With the season now at the halfway point, Cordoba have moved up to the 14th spot in the La Liga table while Eibar remained at the eighth spot with 27 points.
