Fresh from his five-goal outing against Granada, Cristiano Ronaldo scored the first goal in Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.

However, the incident that made the most news last night was when Real Madrid were denied a blatant penalty in the 51st minute, as Ronaldo was blatantly fouled inside the Vallecano box. What’s more is that the Portuguese captain was also booked for diving.

The referee was very clear that Ronaldo had dived, and did not hesitate to book him, but replays showed that it was a clear foul and penalty, and the reactions of the Real Madrid players and Ronaldo himself showed that they couldn’t believe the decision.

There might have been incidents when the winger has been guilty of simulation, but this was definitely an instance of him being wronged by the referee’s decision.
