Video: Del Piero shows he's still got it as he trains ahead of new A-League season

Alessandro del Piero starts pre-season training at Sydney FC on Monday, ahead of the 2013/14 Australian A-League season.

Former Juventus star Alessandro Del Piero has had his first training session with Sydney FC, ahead of the 2013/14 Australian A-League season.

The Italian striker trained with his team-mates in Japan ahead of the team’s match against Japanese side Sagan Tosu on Wednesday.

Del Piero, who is currently Italy’s fourth all-time leading goalscorer, joined Sydney on a two-year deal last September and the players are looking forward to playing with him again after having time off.

Sydney FC defender Sebastian Ryall (about seeing Del Piero again):

“Yes, it’s been a while. We obviously had a holiday and he’s just starting with us today after six weeks of pre-season so you know, obviously, he’s a legend in the game and everyone’s happy to see him and have him with us at Sydney FC.”

His salary made him the highest-paid footballer to ever play in the A-League
