The highlight of the first half between Barcelona and Getafe on Saturday was the brief altercation between Lionel Messi and David Villa just before half-time.
The Argentine, who had to play in a deeper role in the first half to try and dictate the play of a spineless Barcelona, strolled into the area, waiting for a pass from Villa, who took too long to play the ball. Messi was furious and shouted “play it to me earlier”. Villa responded that he had tried to play the ball to him, but Messi shouted at him again, telling him he should have made the pass earlier.

It’s not the first time that Messi and Villa have had a dispute on the pitch, and Messi has had confrontations with other players during games too, including Cristian Tello.
