“Siiiiiiiiiiiii..” Cristiano Ronaldo screamed while ending his speech in the Ballon d’Or – in the same manner, he celebrates in after he scores. When asked later, Ronaldo said, “The scream? The players know I always do that shout when I score a goal or when we win. It’s our shout, from Real Madrid.”
The world of football seems to have caught up with the Real Madrid forward’s celebration as Southampton’s Eljero Elia was seen doing a similar routine after he had scored his second goal against Newcastle on Saturday.
The celebration is clearly not an easy one to pull off as seen last year when two NFL players were forced to miss out their whole season after attempting to pull off the same celebration. Both Lamarr Houston, a defensive end who plays in the NFL for Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch tore their ACL, injuring themselves severely in the process.
Not surprisingly, the celebration is also popular among Ronaldo’s Real Madrid teammates as midfielder Toni Kroos could be seen here copying the Portuguese during one of their team trainings recently.
