Unique and something that has never been done before.
In 2011, the Turkish football association came up with a solution to tackle hooliganism in a way that no one would have thought of. In a match against Manisaspor in Istanbul, the authorities only allowed women and children to get inside the stadium.
This incident was after a few Fenerbahce fans had engaged in violence conduct, and as a punishment, men were banned from the stadium.
The move was welcomed by all, including captain, Alex de Sousa, who said: “This memory will stay with me forever. It’s not always that you see so many women and children in one game.”
Apparently a total of 41,663 female supporters were present in the stadium. Now, that is a big number!
