Ahead of their game against Almeria, Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino spoke on Friday about his side’s winning start to the season and discussed players Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi.
Gerardo Martino has much to be satisfied about.
Under their new Argentine coach, Barcelona have started the La Liga season with six straight victories. An away trip to Almeria is next on Saturday.
But Martino stated in his pre-match press conference that another win will be meaningless if Barca fail to claim the league title in May.
Andres Iniesta has been the subject of transfer speculation in recent days following reports that negotiations over a new contract at the Nou Camp have hit trouble. But 29-year-old midfielder has denied suggestions he could leave.Lionel Messi was substituted during Barcelona’s 4-1 defeat of Real Sociedad on Tuesday,, but the playmaker responded angrily to newspaper reports that he made an angry gesture when leaving the field.
