Joe Nasco of the Colorado Rapids may have wanted to make history in the MLS, but not like this.
The American goalkeeper received the fastest red card in MLS history when he denied a goalscoring opportunity by fouling Los Angeles Galaxy forward Alan Gordon. The record was previously held by Carlos Johnson, a defender with the New York Red Bulls, who was sent off in the second minute against Kansas City Wizards in 2009.

In a scramble at the edge of the six-yard box, Nasco failed to control the ball and allowed Gordon to go past him.
But just as he was about to pull the trigger (in fact, just tap it in), Nasco wheeled around on the spot and grabbed Gordon by the leg, thereby tripping him and allowing Marc Burch to make a goal line clearance.
The LA Galaxy players protested and the referee duly pulled out a red card.
Nasco was replaced by Clint Irwin with Dillon Serna making way. Landon Donovan then fired home the penalty to give LA Galaxy a 1-0 lead. They eventually took advantage of 10-man Colorado and won 6-0!
