The UEFA Champions League semifinal first-leg between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich had long spells of tense, tactical exchanges interspersed with a number of key moments where the game came to life.s
One such moment came in the third minute of added time in the second half. Phillip Lahm’s cross from the right wing was headed back across goal by Mario Mandzukic for Thomas Muller. Even as Muller was about to pull the trigger just five yards away from goal, Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso made a challenge and took the ball away from Muller.
There was a furious appeal by Muller and his team-mates for a penalty which was turned away by English referee Howard Webb.
The decision was a big one and could yet prove to be decisive over the course of the two legs.
So, should Bayern Munich have been awarded a penalty or not? You decide.
