Indian-origin Robin Dutt was introduced to the media at a press conference as the new head coach of German Bundesliga side SV Werder Bremen at their Weserstadion premises earlier today.
Robin Dutt had been the top candidate of the club management to replace Thomas Schaaf, who had coached in Bremen for incredible 14 years. And Dutt knows what is expected from him.
The club’s general manager Thomas Eichin said, “I am happy to have been able to bring the coach to Bremen whom we wanted to have. I quickly had the impression that Robin has high regards for Werder Bremen. I didn’t have to convince him much.”
Robin Dutt said at the press conference: “I am incredibly fortunate and unbelievably happy that I am back on the coaching bench. My heart just belongs on the training grounds. I realised that during my time with the DFB. And the fact that it’s with a club like Werder Bremen is an absolute highlight in my life. I am euphoric.”
Speaking about his style of football, Dutt said, “I not only like to play result-oriented football, but also attractive. I want to strengthen the ‘we feeling’ at Werder Bremen and there should be a very close cooperation with the junior coaches.”
Speaking about Leverkusen, Dutt said, “It wasn’t my best performance. I surely made a few mistakes, was perhaps too enthusiastic and to dogged. It simply did not fit, I think that happens sometimes as a coach. But it was also important to learn this side of the business. I can see things a bit more relaxed now.”
