Video: John-Arne Riise explains his move to Delhi Dynamos

Delhi Dynamos have made another big move by signing John Arne Riise

John Arne Riise talks about his decision to join Indian team Delhi Dynamos in the second season of the ISL. The former Champions league winner spoke of how he wanted to win the Championship with Delhi, and his excitement to be under Roberto Carlos’ tutelage.

"This summer I was a free agent. I like to experience new cultures and Delhi Dynamos wanted me to sign for them. I had a little thought about it and said why not. A new country and a new football league. I'm excited and I can't wait to get started," said the Norwegian in an interview with Sky Sports on Sunday.

Apart from Roberto Carlos, the team has a pretty strong squad with former Chelsea player Florent Malouda in their midfield, and Indian national team striker Robin Singh.

"[Roberto Carlos is] one of my heroes as a left back, growing up. That was obviously one of the biggest points that I really liked. I can't wait to play under him and we also signed Florent Malouda," Riise revelled.

"I can't wait to go there (India). It's a short season but we are fighting for the title, I hope," he added.

During Riise’s time at Liverpool, he won the Champions League, the FA Cup, the League Cup, and two UEFA Super Cups. After leaving Fulham in 2014, he played at APOEL for a year where he helped them win a domestic double. When asked if winning the title was the team's ambition or his he responded saying, "I'm a winner. I like to win stuff. Hopefully, we can play well, get some great signings. Roberto Carlos can get the team together and we can fight for the [ISL] Championship."

Riise will be looking to make his time at Delhi a memorable one, as he is set to join the team on 1 September, which is the same day he made his debut for Liverpool and won the Super Cup for them by scoring a goal against Bayern Munich.
