Zlatan Ibrahimovic has come out and said that Chelsea players behaved like ‘babies’ while appealing for a red card after the Swedish superstar lunged onto a tackle on Oscar. The red card was awarded, Zlatan was off the pitch, and Chelsea are now out of the Champions League. We know the last part doesn’t really connect with the previous narrative, but we just thought you would appreciate the irony of it all.
However, what does go with the narrative is Ibrahimovic’s ‘babies’ tag to nine fully grown men. Following the tackle, every Chelsea player barring goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Oscar (who was lying on the pitch to be fair) surrounded the referee demanding for a red card to be awarded to the PSG striker.
In his ‘child-like’ urgency to complain to the referee about how Oscar was wronged and Zlatan should be sent off, Chelsea captain John Terry almost stepped on his fallen comrade as he was lying on the field.
The captain soon realized his doing and came back to ask the ‘floored’ Brazilian if he was alright.
