Old foes Seydou Keita and Pepe renewed their animosity in a Guinness International Cup match between AS Roma and Real Madrid at the Cotton Bowl, Dallas, Texas, USA.
The former Barcelona star , a veteran of many a battle against Pepe in numerous El Clasicos snubbed a handshake and then threw a bottle at the Portuguese. It was later alleged in a Fox broadcast that the 4th official had confirmed that the Real Madrid centre-back had spat on Keita leading to the water-bottle incident before the match.
According to Marca, Pepe was reacting to an incident in which the Malian had crashed into Coentrao.
The Roma players appear to be gesturing to a spitting incident soon after Xabi Alonso, Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas came to confront the Malian over the water-bottle throw.
Pepe, curiously, smiled as the bottle whizzed past him.
The Italian giants had signed the former La Liga star earlier this year.
