Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne has been absolutely sensational this season. The talented Belgian playmaker was asked to pick his 5 a side team and he had some surprising inclusions.
In goal, he went for Manchester City and England ‘number 1’ Joe Hart. Hart has been at his best for Manchester City and it is no surprise that De Bruyne picked the England international. For the defender in his team, he picks his Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany.
De Bruyne has played with Kompany for 6-7 years and he called him “one of the best defenders in the world” and a “top player”.
For his midfield two, he surprisingly chose Luiz Gustavo from Wolfsburg and Mousa Dembele from Tottenham. Dembele especially came in for som special praise with De Bruyne saying:
"You can never take the ball off him," De Bruyne says of Dembele. "Offensively and defensively, he is one of the best." Dembele has been in good form for Tottenham this season and the Manchester City star will be hoping to link up with his team-mate in the Euros.
Speaking about his other midfielder, Luiz Gustavo, De Bruyne said:
"He's a machine. You don't want to play against him as he is always up your ass for 90 mins!". The Brazilian’s all action displays seem to have really caught the Belgian’s attention.
For the striker’s role, he went for his Manchester City team-mate Sergio Aguero.
On Aguero, De Bruyne added: "He scores from every angle. He is small, quick and scores a lot of goals. Another obvious choice."
Sergio Aguero is truly one of the best players in the world and the combination of De Bruyne and Aguero has helped City reach the Champions League semi-finals.
His 5 a side team includes three Manchester City players, and one each from Wolfsburg and Tottenham.
