Reaction after Swansea lose 2-1 to Petrolul Ploiesti but win 6-3 on aggregate.
Swansea coach Michael Laudrup:“We knew that we could have a lot of counter-attacks. We had. What we didn’t do was to finish them. We had five or six occasions, two against two, one against one, even a couple of chances. huge chances, one on one with the goalkeeper. You don’t score and then, even if they haven’t created a lot, I think they’ve only had one shot on target in the first half, and suddenly they get a goal. And then the last 20 minutes, of course the crowd and everything, the red card, you have to suffer a bit, you have to run more and it wasn’t necessary. We didn’t need to do that. That s why we lost a lot of good energy because we did not score when we had the chance.”
Petrolul coach Cosmin Contra:“I think that if we would have had a 1-0 lead after the first half or maybe 2-0 the situation would have been different. The other key moment was that we conceded much too early after the first goal scored. But I’m proud of this team, too bad we didn’t have the same attitude and will from tonight in the first leg and instead we had a psychological blockage there. We didn’t manage to show the real value of Petrolul in the first leg.”
