FC Barcelona and Argentina magician Lionel Messi has once again mesmerized us with his latest ‘keepy-uppies’ video clip. Earlier this month, a video had emerged on fellow Barca star Neymar performing tricks with an array of objects. Few days later, Adidas backed campaign ‘Team Messi’ tweeted a video of the star performing the same skills.
It might have been filmed for little more reason than to bring attention to a sportswear brand, but it's impossible not to be impressed by the Argentinian’s ability to perform keepy-ups with a piece of fruit.
In the video clip, the four-time Ballon d’Or winner is seen loafing around on a training ground, apparently waiting for a shoot to get under way. Messi finds himself standing beside a table filled with drinks and fruits. The latter catches his attention and he couldn’t resist the temptation of practicing his juggling skills with it.
Perhaps, Messi felt too impatient to wait for footballs to arrive and he wastes no time in flaunting his incredible talent by doing some ‘keepy-uppies’ with an orange. It may not be surprising to most of us, but he was flawless at it. After all, he's a dribble-master on the football pitch and arguably the best player at the moment.
It lends some truth to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s reported claims in the past that whatever former Aston Villa striker John Carew could do with a football, he could do with an orange! If there were people who thought he was bluffing then, might change their minds about it now.
The Argentina captain is sidelined with knee injury and he is still on his road to full recovery. Someone should suggest the Barca man to eat his vitamin C rather than to be booting it around.
