When Real Madrid announced their signing of Martin Odegaard, it made him the highest paid teenager with an earning accounting upto £80,000 a week at the Bernabeu. It was fee that left all 16-year-olds wondering about how life can be so unfair at times. But of all the young starlets lighting up world football, he is one of the few who’s highly rated.
The 16-year-old is tipped to be a world-class star of the future and he has already made his senior debuts for both club and country.
Ahead of Norway’s Euro 2016 qualifying match against Italy on Tuesday, Odegaard pulled off an audacious no-look touch during the national team’s training session. The youngster shows off his ridiculous tekkers, reminding us of the great Ronaldinho who is another player, well known for the tricks and flicks he pulls offs in training.
The Real Madrid youngster was having a bit of a bit of a kick-about before the clash and without even looking, plucked the ball out of the sky and trapped it dead. The fact that he looks in almost the opposite direction before controlling it beautifully on his left boot, killing the ball dead with almost godlike control, makes it look embarrassingly good. With such skills, it’s no surprise he has captured fans’ imaginations from Spain to Scandanavia.
Norway defeated Malta by 2 goals on Saturday’s Euro qualifiers and we now have a wonderful opportunity to witness Odegaard at Euro 2016 if Croatia fails to beat Bulgaria. The youngster is almost a regular now with his national side and having made his debut so early for them, he has wowed a number of spectators including massive clubs including obviously Real Madrid.
