Video: Mayor of Rio has dig at Brazil's World Cup organisers

The Rio 2016 Olympic Committee has held a news conference to mark three years until the start of the Games.

The news conference was overshadowed, however, by a scathing attack by the city’s mayor on FIFA and the World Cup organising committee over next year’s finals in Brazil.

With the initial plan of having $700-million provided by public government funds, Rio 2016 Chief Operation Officer, Leonardo Gryner, explaining they will work hard to try and limit the use of public money.

“We are working with our private revenues, with sponsorship, licensing, ticketing – that will come later. And we are doing our best in order to make it balanced, so making our expenses meet the revenues and trying to limit, as much as possible, the provision of public funds into this budget.”
