The match between Mogi Mirin and Bragantino witnessed one of the most bizarre bookings one could ever witness. Former Brazilian legend Rivaldo’s team Mogi Mirim were left ruing their luck after they slumped to a 3-2 defeat against Bragantino in the Brazilian Serie B after one of their defender was sent off for sporting a different jersey number.
Bragantino scored an injury-time winner as Mogi Mirim slumped to a defeat at home and Rivaldo and Company will be unhappy at the manner in which one of their players was sent off.
Pauloa who had started the match wearing jersey number 4 picked up a yellow card over the course of the first half. What happened in the second half was the shocking part. The defender without realising it put on the wrong number in the second half.
He was wearing the number 3 jersey rather than 4 which came to the attention of the referee. Paulao’s teammate Fábio Sanches was also wearing the same number at that time.
The referee did not hesitate to pull out a second yellow card as Paulao received his marching orders just six minutes into the second half. Rivaldo’s men currently sit second from bottom in the standings and Paulao’s absence will not help their cause as they fight relegation.
