French defender Philippe Mexes is hardly considered the sweetest striker of the ball, however there is no denying the skill he showed in converting from a corner against AC Milan’s most bitter rivals Inter Milan in a pre-season friendly.
The two teams were gridlocked in a Milan pre-season derby until a corner was floated in by Giacomo Bonaventura seemingly mis-hit at it went towards the opposite edge of the box. It had only one aim and boy did it find the man, Mexes stepped up and leaped into the air while striking a sublime volley to put the ball past the keeper before he could realise what had happened.
The superb strike fittingly earned the AC Milan bragging rights from the derby played in China. Even Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic couldn’t suppress a smile.
