Falcao scored in his first start for six months after having surgery on torn left anterior cruciate ligament which consequently made him miss the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
He scored the only goal in an Emirates Cup match against Arsenal at the Emirates giving Monaco the win and Spanish side Valencia the tournament trophy.
The Colombian forward was injured in a French Cup match against minnows AS Chasselay when centre-back Soner Ertek made a challenge on him in the penalty box. This led to death threats being issued in the relatively unknown player’s name by Colombian fans.
The forward though bore no ill-will towards Ertek and posted the following message on his Twitter account.
Falcao’s goal and fitness should please club AS Monaco and potential suitors Real Madrid.
