Real Madrid are 2-0 down to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in their Champions League quarterfinal, but the La Liga giants are quite positive about their chances in the 2nd leg. Los Blancos released an inspirational video on their official YouTube channel, that aims to get the fans hyped up for a potential comeback for the ages.
The video features a series of Real Madrid stars including Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos and James Rodriguez in a series of celebrations after goals that are presumably, equalisers or the beginning of a comeback, with emotion writ large on the player’s faces.
Madrid will hope that the same defiance translates to the notoriously demanding fans at the Santiago Bernabeu, as Real Madrid will need everyone onside for a comeback to take place, with the video titled as much (All together for the comeback!).
Cristiano Ronaldo called on the fans to make it a magical night at the Bernabeu, saying “The team are confident, the coach has faith and the fans must also have faith, Tuesday has to be a magical night.”
Zinedine Zidane is also sure that the Madridistas within the Bernabeu will be vociferous, saying “I'm sure they'll be with us. On Tuesday, we play for our season. I like it when things get tough. Nobody expected this from the first leg, but it's done now.“
Real Madrid need all the help they can get, as they have never overturned a two goal deficit from the first leg in the Champions League era. The Spaniards have a notoriously poor record when trailing, and will need all the fans to back them against a Wolfsburg side that is lethal on the counter-attack.
However, all the talk from the Madrid-based press throughout the last week has been about a ‘remontada’ (comeback), and the mood around the club seems rather positive and hopeful, two emotions the video seeks to inspire.
